Her and the eponymous band's style is versatile, and, contrary to the views of some detractors, not chameleonic; all of her work is very dark and often gothic, but there are many different facets and angles of her own unique darkness that she comes at in her work. "Gaian Doom is a subgenre of doom metal that combines elements of traditional doom metal with folk and ambient music. It is characterized by slow, heavy riffs, often with acoustic guitar accompaniment, and often incorporates elements of nature, such as birdsong, wind, and rain. The lyrics often focus on themes of nature, the environment, and the human condition. The music is often melancholic and introspective, and can be quite dark and oppressive." (attrib. Volt.fm ) Additionally, the vocals are pretty much always female. There seems to be a lot of overlap with genres such as gothic rock, ethereal wave, and some heavier variants of psych music. These are in no particular order. As I am relatively new to the genre, this is a starter kit instead of a box set.
