Ranking Chelsea Wolfe's Discography (Worst to Best)

Her and the eponymous band's style is versatile, and, contrary to the views of some detractors, not chameleonic; all of her work is very dark and often gothic, but there are many different facets and angles of her own unique darkness that she comes at in her work. Genres she has explored include ethereal wave, dark folk, doom metal, and gothic rock. In this ranking, I will list my favorite studio albums in reverse order. Underneath, I will rank my 50 favorite songs of hers. 8. Mistake in Parting  ||  Alternative Rock  ||  2006  ||  5.5/10 7. Birth ...

Nimzo Box Set - Post-Punk

Similar lists: 80s Post-Punk Mixtape Post-punk is a deviation from the more common punk rock of the 70s; in fact, as a genre, it emerged in the late 1970s and continued to evolve throughout the 1980s as a reaction to the former genre. It features more elaborate production than typical of punk, with more attention to creating soundscapes while still keeping the angular guitar lines and rhythmic quality of punk rock. It also commonly features a more depressive quality to the songwriting than plain punk, and, to me, is more effective, relatable, and enjoyable. Though the 80s are often considered its heyday, it continues to be a force to be reckoned with even today, due to the explosion of the post-punk revival movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s to the current day. Though the genres of post-punk and post-punk revival are technically distinct (primarily because of the strong influence of indie rock on the latter), I will be including both in this boxset. Additionally, ethereal wave,...

Nimzo Starter Kit - Gaian Doom

"Gaian Doom is a subgenre of doom metal that combines elements of traditional doom metal with folk and ambient music. It is characterized by slow, heavy riffs, often with acoustic guitar accompaniment, and often incorporates elements of nature, such as birdsong, wind, and rain. The lyrics often focus on themes of nature, the environment, and the human condition. The music is often melancholic and introspective, and can be quite dark and oppressive." (attrib. Volt.fm ) Additionally, the vocals are pretty much always female. There seems to be a lot of overlap with genres such as gothic rock, ethereal wave, and some heavier variants of psych music. These are in no particular order. As I am relatively new to the genre, this is a starter kit instead of a box set. Already I can tell it's going to be one of my all time favorites; the Spotify playlist below will continue to be added to as I find more favorites. The format is: #.
