Top 10 Worst Songs of the 2010s

Too much positivity on this blog so far! Here's a healthy dose of songs I loathe.

Not all of these are objectively the worst things ever (though I would argue some of them are...ok, maybe most of them), but I despise them all for various reasons. Remember, these are just my opinions, and I don't think any less of you as a person if you enjoy one or more of these.

I'm not reviewing these, but on a few I'll provide a bit of explanation.

Enjoy, or hate.

Honorable Mention: Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Phonat Remix)

10. Coldplay - A Sky Full of Stars  ||  Released 2014  ||  Dance Pop  || ... the point I started to hate modern Coldplay. I'm a huge apologist against snobs who take shots at their earlier stuff, and even Mylo, but I can't stand this song.

9. LMFAO - Sorry for Party Rocking  ||  Released 2012  ||  Electro House

8. Eminem - Chloraseptic  ||  Released 2017  ||  Pop Rap

7. Tom MacDonald - Whiteboy  ||  Released 2018  ||  Political Hip Hop  || ... sensitive much? WHITE...BOY. WHITE...BOY.

6. Hugh Jackman & The Greatest Showman Ensemble - A Million Dreams ||  Released 2017  ||  Film Soundtrack  || ... vapid, falsely sincere, generic, annoying.

5. Lil Dicky - Earth  ||  Released 2019  ||  Comedy Rap

4. Ylvis - The Fox  ||  Released 2013  ||  Novelty

3. 93PUNX - It's a Bad Dream  ||  Released 2019  ||  Emo Rap  || ...if only it was...if only it was...

2. Walk the Moon - Shut Up + Dance  ||  Released 2014  ||  Alternative Dance  || ... the worst kind of earworm. Makes me physically grind my teeth, without hyperbole.

1. Disturbed - The Sound of Silence  ||  Released 2016  ||  Symphonic Rock  || ... the worst cover ever made.

The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot (Themed Playlist)

"The Waste Land" by T.S. Eliot  “A heap of broken images, where the sun beats, And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief, And the dry stone no sound of water. Only There is shadow under this red rock, (Come in under the shadow of this red rock), And I will show you something different from either Your shadow at morning striding behind you Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you; I will show you fear in a handful of dust.” “My nerves are bad to-night. Yes, bad. Stay with me. 'Speak to me. Why do you never speak? Speak. 'What are you thinking of? What thinking? What? 'I never know what you are thinking. Think.” The Waste Land is one of the most impactful pieces of poetry that I have ever read. A British work written in the wake of WWI, it is an early example of modernism in poetry, and in fact inspired the entire literary movement almost on its own. It requires heavy interpretation and direct attention from the reader to understand and digest i...

My Top 25 Australian Albums

This one's for the Aussies.  Music from Australian artists has had a huge impact on my taste. In particular, the punk blues scene which emerged from it was an important gateway into aggressive, catchy, and rebellious music. You will see a lot of albums from this scene on the list. Artists from other genres, of course, are among my favorites of all time. I love you Australia! I'm limiting the list to one album per artist, to keep it readable and not oversaturate it with just a couple of artists (guess which ones). 1. The Drones - I See Seaweed  ||  Punk Blues  ||  2013  ||  angry, poetic     Favorite tracks:  Nine Eyes, I See Seaweed, Why Write a Letter That You'll Never Send 2. The Avalanches - We Will Always Love You  ||  Neo-Psychedelia, Electronic, Trip Hop, House  ||  2020  ||  melancholic, atmospheric     Favorite tracks: We Go On, Song for Barbara Payton, The Divine Chord 3.  Nick Cave ...
